Part of the 2026 Things I Love series, this original painting by Seattle artist Glynn Rosenberg features a platter of eaten oysters against a dark background. Painted with acrylic on a 5”x7” wood panel, the still life references the “memento mori” tradition of Flemish painting; the still life tradition reflects on mortality through everyday objects. The oyster has a long history in still life painting. Here, it reflects the dynamic cultural, economic and ecological significance of seafood in the Pacific Northwest. Each painting in the series is one of a kind and created by hand in the artist’s Capitol Hill studio.
Important Fulfillment Notice: This painting will not be shipped until June 2026. The painting will be exhibited at Kakao Coffee at 415 Westlake Ave N in Seattle until the end of May 2026.
